
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - A new report shows Minnesota had 395 traffic deaths last year. That's the first increase in deaths since 2007. Officials say it represents a 40% drop from a decade ago. They cite a mild winter, a slight increase in miles traveled and a jump in motorcyclist deaths in 2012 as reasons for the increase.
STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) - The Stillwater Lift Bridge will remain closed to motorists until this afternoon. Bridge operation was suspended after a worker detected a frayed cable on the bridge's lift system. Officials hope to be able to lift the bridge for large boats by the end of the week.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Amazon says it will drop Minnesota-based affiliate websites before the state's online sales tax becomes law next month. The websites receive a fee for referring shoppers to Amazon's online store. The new law requires certain online businesses with a physical presence to charge a sales tax on items it sells to state residents.
