FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The owner of the semipro football team the Brainerd (Minn.) Lumberjacks is starting a new team in Fargo-Moorhead. That team will play in the fall. The Lumberjacks play in the spring. James Kern says the new team will play in the United National Football League.
CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to put the rival Detroit Red Wings in a 2-0 hole to begin the Western Conference semifinals. Defenseman Duncan Keith and forward Michael Handzus missed practice for the Hawks yesterday, but both are expected to play in today's game.
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Former World Series MVP David Freese finally has his first homer of the season - and it was a grand slam. The St. Louis Cardinals scored five in the first to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-6 last night. The Brewers pulled close with two 3-run homers by Aramis Ramirez off Jaime Garcia.
