The competition between WWE and AEW no longer stayed a cold war when the latter started their Elite Wrestling: Dynamite introduction on TNT network in precisely the same period as WWE’s NXT Live on USA Network. The conflict between both professional wrestling bands instantly become a war involving TV Ratings, also astonishingly, AEW thumped over NXT’s shocking incident that saw the return of former Champions Finn Balor and Tomasso Ciampa.
While AEW accumulated 1.4 million viewers through its two hours programming, NXT’s viewership was listed in 8,91,000 within both hours.
“Congratulations to AEW on an effective premiere. The actual winners of the night’s head-to-head telecasts of NXT on USA Network and AEW on TNT would be the lovers, who will anticipate Wednesday nights for a competitive and crazy ride since it is a marathon, not a one-night sprint,” the announcement read according to Pro Wrestling Illustrated.
“Because they are embarrassed. I understand how they work. And the simple fact is, I have not seen the true rating but I am assuming they understand how it is, and I believe we probably kicked off their a**. They began this. Everything that they have done was a reactionary move for people. We are not in a war with anyone apart from ourselves,” Jericho said in a meeting to 411 Mania.
“I do not care if you reestablish John and George and it is the reunion of the Beatles in the Super Bowl or anything. All that matters is that our series. You may set up anything against us and we can not compete with this. We could compete with what we are doing,” he added.
Jericho farther said that WWE began this war and were conquered on the night. “They kinda began this war, and also the very first night that they have ruined. Big deal, it is our very first introduction, great. But they must return and say,’ it is a marathon rather than a one-night sprint’ Who is ever said it is a one-night sprint? There is a small bit of an arrogance toward us that has gone,” he explained.
