Coronavirus: France seizes 140,000’Prohibited’ masks Around Paris

France captured around 140,000″prohibited” masks through a police operation near Paris on Saturday.

Two men were detained in the day whilst unloading”several boxes” out of freight coming in the Netherlands at the suburban region of Saint-Denis, about 10 kilometers from the capital.

Authorities opened an investigation on”ownership of fake goods and deceptive marketing and advertising techniques”, the Bobigny prosecutor’s office stated.

The instance is currently entrusted to territorial safety.

One of these introduced himself as a”business owner”, describing having purchased the masks, of which approximately 5,000 are FFP2, in the Netherlands, for whole worth of $80,000, authorities said.

The aim was to pay them to”acquaintances”, such as employees in the building business, and also make”large profits”, as stated by the French authorities.

This is the biggest seizure of protective masks because of the government’s ban on their resale rights.

In March, 32,500 masks against China were captured from a warehouse at Saint-Ouen, also 28,800 masks were found at a store in the wholesalers’ area of Aubervilliers.

In both scenarios, the heaps recovered by the authorities were handed over to the Regional Health Agency (ARS).
