Drone sighting causes Mess Insanity in Frankfurt airport

Flights were seriously disrupted at Frankfurt airport one of Europe’s busiest hubs — due to a drone, authorities, and air traffic controllers stated.

Landings and takeoffs were obstructed at noon CET for at least one hour, causing delays and cancellations, but runways later reopened.

It followed that the sighting of a drone, airport authorities said.

Passengers on societal media reported they were redirected to land at other airports, such as Nuremberg.

Frankfurt is your fourth-busiest airport in Europe, after London Heathrow, Paris CDG and Amsterdam, with approximately 180,000 passengers per day.

Just a couple of weeks before, Frankfurt airport had to be closed down for about an hour due to a drone invasion.

In 2019, a few 28 drone sightings were reported that German DPA news agency reported.
