EU Agrees To Drop Restrictions On Renting of Crewed Planes

The United States said on Tuesday it had signed a deal with the European Union, Iceland, and Norway where the European authorities agreed to refuse restrictions on overseas airlines leasing airplanes and team away from U.S. carriers.

The EU in May 2017 agreed to open discussions with the United States of America about the issue. The leasing of crewed airplanes from a different airline – called moist tenancy – is a frequent practice in the business to improve flexibility in meeting demand.

The State Department said Tuesday that the deal would”remove one-time limits on U.S. aviation leases of aircraft with the crew at the profitable U.S.-EU aviation industry.
