Touring circuses have a 250-year-old background in Europe, frequently visiting as many as a hundred websites per year.
A European lawmaker has established an initiative to reevaluate circuses who stick by best practices using a unique award.
“It is a part of our European civilization,” said Hungarian MEP Istvan Ujhelyi, that thinks the aid of EU institutions is crucial to their success.

Three circuses in Finland, Hungary, and Switzerland were rewarded with this Friday in a ceremony held in the European Parliament.
Criteria include employee security, animal welfare, and tax compliance.
