French prosecutors Request Depardieu rape investigation to be reopened

Paris prosecutors have asked for an investigation into rape allegations from France’s famed actor Gerard Depardieu to be reopened.

The research to the star, who starred in movies such as”Jean de Florette,” had been dropped from 2019 as researchers didn’t build enough evidence to proceed with proper fees.

A female celebrity in her 20s accuses Depardieu of attacking and raping her at his Paris house in August 2018.

The female celebrity initially reported her allegations to authorities in the southern town of Aix-en-Provence, who opened a preliminary probe that was subsequently passed on prosecutors in Paris.

She relaunched proceeding by behaving as an “injured party” that under French legislation will probably result in a situation being analyzed by an investigating magistrate.

Depardieu’s attorney, Herve Temime, declined to comment when contacted by AFP.

In addition to being a celebrity in France, Depardieu is also well-known on the global stage.

He gained international fame after starring at the 1990 movie”Green Card.”

He retains Russian and French citizenship.
