International Beer Day: Who will be Europe’s most important customers, manufacturers and exporters of this beverage?

Having a creation of 8 billion liters (roughly 23 percent of the EU total manufacturing ), Germany is the largest manufacturer of beer among EU members in 2019, based on Eurostat.

To put it differently, approximately one in each beer produced from the EU originated from Germany, that can be accompanied by Poland and Spain (every 3.9 bn liters), the Netherlands (2.5 bn liters), Belgium (2.4 bn liters), France (2.0 bn liters), along with also the Czech Republic (1.9 bn liters).

The Netherlands is the largest beer exporter of EU countries with 1.9bn liters, before Belgium (1.7 bn liters) and Germany (1.6 bn liters), followed by the Czech Republic, France, and Ireland (all of 0.5 bn).

In terms of beer consumption per capita, Czech Republic (141 liters), Austria (107 liters) and Germany (102 liters) make it on the podium of the greatest manufacturers in the EU.

They’re followed by Romania (85 liters) and Croatia (84 liters).

Greece, Italy, and France come with 36, 34, and 33 liters of beer per capita.

Back in 2018, they had been greater than 2,000 active breweries in the UK, as stated by the Brewers of Europe.
