The IT Ministry on Thursday searched a thorough response from WhatsApp about the matter of Israeli spyware which was allegedly utilized to target Indian journalists and human rights activists via its platform.
WhatsApp was requested to submit its response by November 4. The ministry has written to WhatsApp looking for its answer on the topic, ” a senior government official told PTI.
On Thursday, Facebook-owned WhatsApp stated Indian journalists and human rights activists were one of those internationally discriminated upon by unnamed entities employing an Israeli spyware Pegasus.
WhatsApp stated that it was suing NSO Group, an Israeli defense company, that’s allegedly supporting the technology that aided unnamed entities’ spies to hack phones of approximately 1,400 users.
But, it didn’t state on whose behest the telephones of journalists and activists throughout the world were concentrated.
