Italian politicians condemn hanged effigy like Greta Thunberg

Italian police have launched an investigation following an effigy of adolescent climate activist Greta Thunberg was found hanged beneath a Rome bridge.

Pictures posted on societal websites reveal the effigy sporting two blonde braids. It also allegedly had a sign stating: “Greta is the God.”

Rome mayor, Virginia Raggi, by the judgment populist Five Star Movement (M5S), clarified the effigy as”black” and expressed solidarity with the activist along with her loved ones.

The nation’s environment minister condemned the effigy as an”improper and criminal action”.

Thunberg established the college attack — also called Fridays for Future — motion above a year ago to need the Swedish authorities to take increased action to tackle the climate crisis.

The movement has since spread internationally and Thunberg has addressed several associations such as the European Parliament and the American Congress.

Last month, she scolded world leaders in the UN’s climate change summit, telling them they’d discharged her youth having”empty phrases”.

It’s as climate protests hit Rome on Monday within a last-minute effort by Extinction Rebellion.
