Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker wins the Golden Lion for best film at Venice Film Festival

It’s the very first superhero movie ever to find this type of arthouse kudos, and may now be on its way to Oscar glory. The previous two Venice winners — Roma and The Form of Water — have gone on to raise the very best picture Academy Award.
