Shuttler Lakshya Sen on Sunday clinched his eponymous BWF World Tour title, beating Japanese planet No. 160 Yusuke Onodera 15-21, 21-14, 21-15 in the final of the Dutch Open Super 100.
World No. 72 Lakshya (18) needed to rally from a first game defeat. It was a close affair with Lakshya coming in a point of the rival, but he would never nudge ahead. They moved toe-to-toe for most aspects of the next match. It was following the score 12-11 in his favor that Lakshya was able to steer away from his Japanese rival.
Lakshya was successful in maintaining a space with Onodera from the next match, leading 11-8 in the rest. It had been of the same in the next time before Lakshya appeared victorious.
With this triumph, Lakshya is predicted to have near the top 50 in the world rankings.
