Its usage rose sharply throughout the pandemic. Collins enrolled over 250,000 usages of”lockdown” throughout 2020, compared with just 4,000 the preceding calendar year.
Other pandemic-linked words made the shortlist like keyworker, social distancing, self-isolate, and Furlough.
