Manju Rani settles for silver, India Complete with four medals at World Championships 2019

Manju Rani settled for a silver medal after Heading down from Russia’s Ekaterina Paltceva Through 4:1 verdict at the 48kg summit Battle at World Boxing Championships 2019 on Sunday. Together with her attempt, India expand its tally to four awards in the Championships in Ulan-Ude, Russia, together with three bronze (Mary Kom, Jamuna Boro and Lovlina Borgohain ) and Manju’s silver.

Having a silver triumph in her introduction World Championships, Manju Rani emulated Mary Kom’s 18-year-old record.

The Haryana fighter, that had been seeded sixth before the onset of the tournament competed in extreme conflict with the 2nd seed Russian.  Both the competitions charged into attacking manner from the initial round. However, Manju found herself fighting as the Russian landed near-flawless left hooks in the first 3 minutes.

Manju made a fantastic comeback in the next round, landing a couple of straight against the house woman, and it seemed liked she might acquire a top hand in the bout. However, a careful approach in the Indian pugilist at the last round turned back the tide into the favor of this Russian. As the referee declared the last verdict, Rani looked visibly angry.

Rani broke to the national camp just this season by winning the national crown for Punjab after not obtaining the choice nod in Haryana. Earlier this season, she won a silver trophy on introduction in the prestigious Strandja Memorial Tournament, one of Europe’s earliest and most aggressive boxing events.

Rani hails from Rithal Phogat village at the Rohtak district of Haryana.
