Spanish left Nacho Monreal has abandoned Arsenal following six years in the London club to combine La Liga side Real Sociedad to a yearlong agreement for an undisclosed fee, both sides said on Saturday. Monreal, 33, joined Arsenal out of Malaga at January 2013 and proceeded to create 251 looks for the club, scoring 10 goals.
“Throughout his time, Nacho played his normal left-back position and in central defense.
“We want to thank Nacho because of his contribution to the club, and everybody else at Arsenal wants him the very best for his future.”
Monreal, who started his career with Osasuna, will be introduced as a Real Sociedad participant on Monday.
His brand new side have obtained four points in 3 games this year and was defeated 2-0 by local competitions Athletic Bilbao on Friday.
