Students Visit Kasota Quarry

And finally tonight...it was no boring day in the classroom for some 8th graders from East Junior High School. The group sported hard hats as they visited the Kasota Quarry. They used GPS systems and studied different rock formations in the area. They also listened to a geologist explain why the quarry was built in the area. Those who organized the event say it's a great way for the students to go beyond what's in a textbook.Kevin Sedivy says, "They can actually see what takes place and how the formations were built over many many many years."More students are scheduled to visit the quarry tomorrow.
