Davis Family Opens New Business

It's proof you don't have to be a Packer fan to love cheese, as one local business family expands their horizons once again.News 12's Jennifer Hudspeth has more about who they are and just what they're doing...The name speaks for itself, but there's one rule...don't call anyone a cheese head.Jon Davis says, "We're not cheese heads, we're Vikings fans all of us!"The Friendly Confines Cheese Shoppe, named after Chicago's Wrigley Field has only been open two weeks...but already the store is a homerun.Kirk Litynski says, "It's not just going to be a place for people to come in and grab a chunk of cheese and walk out the door, I believe it's a destination spot for people to come from all around."That's because their cheeses come from all around. You can find spreads made in Mankato to slices from Europe. For the Davis family who started businesses Davisco Foods, Cambria and now a Home Mortgage Company...after renovating the shop's building, retail seemed like the next logical step.Jon Davis says, "I think we're learning it fast and again you just kind of dive in and learn and a good smart hard working disciplined effort, we're figuring out the retail end so it was a natural extension for us, but a little scary because it's out of our box a little bit."It's a business extension that's not striking out...and slices of cheese aren't the only slices you'll find on the menu.Jon Davis says, "I love the pizzas, it's going to be hard to keep my waistline where it is with those pizzas only one floor down from my office."Jennifer Hudspeth says, "With pizzas turning into a fast favorite what makes them so unique is they are all cooked in an oven covered in Cambria, in fact it's the only Cambria covered oven in the world."Litynski says, "Well we always say that it would add to the taste of the pizza but not really, it's the brick inside the oven, that brick really adds a lot to the pizza."But special cooking isn't the only secret to the Davis's business success...really their secret is quite simple...Jon Davis says, "Hard work, discipline, and when you make a mistake try to learn from it..."Just don't make the mistake of asking for a cheese hat...Davis says, "We won't be selling cheese-heads in here either..."In Le Sueur, Jennifer Hudspeth News 12.
