Obama Takes State of the Union Message on the Road

Good evening and thanks for joining us, I'm Jennifer Hudspeth.LawmakerLawmakers on Capitol Hill are reacting to the President's State of the Union address - as the Commander in Chief takes his economic message on the road.Fox's Jennifer Davis has the story from Washington.President Obama takes his economic message to Florida, announcing what he calls job creating opportunities - awards of 8 billion dollars to start developing high speed rail in several states.Obama says: "We're going to put more Americans to work re-building our infrastructure."In his State of the Union address Wednesday night, the President declared job creation his number one priority and asked Congress to pass a jobs bill.Reid says: "The President made it clear that our number one focus this year is putting Americans back to work. And we couldn't agree more."Democratic Senators responded by passing a measure known as pay as you go to curb spending and the senate majority leader says he'll unveil jobs creation legislation next week to address the nation's unemployment rate.Republicans, however, say they weren't inspired by the president's address, tone or approach.Mcconnell says: "I thought the president's speech was unduly partisan and in your face. Frankly, my predicitions were wrong. I thought he'd go to the political middle."GOP lawmakers also say they dont think the president's proposals are the answer to the nation's woes.Boehner says: "Republicans have stood all year against their job-killing agenda, but republicans also all year have offered what I've called better solutions."Davis says"The president will convene a cabinet meeting Friday to rally his cabinet secretaries around the ideas in his state of the union address.
