It took a jury in Wichita Kansas less then forty minutes to convict a pro-life activist of murder.Roeder repeatedly admitted he killed abortion doctor George Tiller to save the lives of unborn children.Fox's Alicia Acuna explains why the jury didn't buy it.Nats: "We the jury find the defendant Scott Roeder guilty of the crime of first degree murder."One day after testifying he killed abortion provider doctor George Tiller to save the lives of unborn babies... Scott Roeder is found guilty of premeditated murder.Swegle says: "So he, Scott Roeder, undertook a mission of murder. He devised various schemes, scenarios, musings, as he stalked, pursued, chased Dr. Tiller."Tiller was one of the nation's few late-term abortion providers.His clinic was often the subject of pro-life protests.Some suspected him of skirting Kansas' abortion laws.Roeder told the jury he had to stop Doctor Tiller before more babies died.Roeder says: "In the late 90s I determined that killing abortion providers was justified."Foulston says: "And then after that, or at a point during that, your target became Dr. Tiller?"Roeder says: "Yes."After hearing Roeder's testimony the judge denied defense requests to let the jury consider a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter.Roeder's lawyers say the jury didn't have any options.Ruday says: "He's either guilty of first degree murder, or they'd have to let him go. And obviously we knew that they weren't going to let him go."Roeder will be sentenced in March.He faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison ... And could be up for parole after 25 years.Prosecutors plan to push for fifty years -- no probation.Prosecutor says: "Hopefully it sends a clear message that this type of conduct is clearly not justified under the law.
