It's the most watched television event of the year, and this year many tuned in to see who would take home those Championship rings.News 12's Jennifer Hudspeth shows us how people celebrated the big game around Mankato and why some used it as a chance to give back.It's a day where eyes are glued to the tv, and parties are a prime event...."It's fun just to have that atmosphere where everyone's cheering together and we're having a good time."For many this game is a tough one to swallow...without the Vikes in the running, just who do you cheer for?But tonight fans still came out in support of their favorite team.And it's easy to still catch a glimpse of purple and gold..."We should be at the Super Bowl today."Randy Oachs says, "They should have been there, that's what I thought, they should have kicked that field goal at the end."For many fans hearts haven't quite healed from the close call with the Saints...which is why some fans say the best revenge is cheering for the Colts even if it's just for one night.Brad Matthes says, "Yeah the Colts in the Super Bowl, second time, they're going to do it."Elizabeth Bakalyar says, "They beat up on Brett Favre and I was kind of upset about that so I don't want them to beat up on Peyton Manning either."Jennifer Hudspeth says, "The theme for Super Bowl parties seems to be friends, good food and fun... and here at this party you can do all that while raising money for the community."Joleen Sadaka says, "That is what we like to do as a family is we like to give back in anyway we can and it's just a great cause."Charley's Restaurant and KEYC teamed up for their own Party, this year raising money for the Blue Earth and Nicollet County Humane Society.But no matter where you watched the game, football fans already have their predictions for next year.Bakalyar says, "Well if Brett Farve is still with the Vikings, I'm a Brett Farve fan...I would hope for the Vikings to go to the Super Bowl."Sadaka says, "Well of course the Vikings have to be in it, we are predicting that Farve will come back another year and he will play in the Super Bowl with the Vikings and we'll get our success story that we've been waiting for."A success story only 365 days in the making.In Mankato, Jennifer Hudspeth News 12.
