Extreme sports fanatics flocked to Westwood Marina at Lake Washington this morning.Riders gathered for the 8th annual Lake Washington Wakeboard Competition.Around 50 wake boarders and wake surfers from around the region competed in seven different classes.Competitor Max Hanson says one unique aspect is you can compete alone or as a team.Competitor Max Hanson says, "I myself like working with other people, and winning as a team is way more fun than winning by yourself."Games on the beach are a new attraction this year to keep the action going during some of the downtime.Coordinator Wade Fischer says the main thing is to keep it fun for everyone.Fischer says, "The format has been the same, pretty much the same every year, so we're going to stick with what works."Fischer feels another reason for the longevity is the fact that it is the only competition held in Southern Minnesota.
