We've all heard the saying, "You reap what you sow."Tonight News 12's Lisa Cownie introduces us to a college student who learned that lesson early.Meet David Wilson, one of Lisa's Lights...(Nats) "Does everyone have a seed?The seeds David Wilson plants each Friday, helps these folks grow in the community...For three hours, each Friday, David Wilson plants seeds...that will helps these folks grow in the community...(Nats of him helping someone) "When you plant seeds, you will see two little leaves pop up"David volunteers at Lifeworks, an organization that serves people with disabilities...David says, "It is a lot of fun, I enjoy coming here, I make relationships with people and I like to keep those strong."It's those relationships that keep David coming back each week.Nats "When dirt gets on finger, then you don't need to water your plant."Volunteering at Lifeworks started as a Service Learning Project for credit at MSU, that ended...but David stayed on...Andrew Pietsch says, " He's one of those people that has a genuine caring, he wants to make a commitment...he wants to make a difference."Here at Lifeworks David has taught classes on bike mechanics, exercise, even art...whatever he can do to help those who come here..improve their quality of life in our community.David says, "It's a win-win for everybody"Jenny Dart says, "I'm really grateful for people like that."(Nats of him working with a young woman) "Can you tell me about that picture?"(Nats girl)"It's a monkey, (monkey sounds)"He graduates next May from MSU with an anthropology degree...but it's what he's learned outside the classroom...here at Lifeworks...that defines what he'll be when he graduates...David says, "A message to the kids out there...get out and volunteer."Nats (these just go a half inch in)Because when it comes to volunteering at places like Lifeworks...a little can go a long way...Andrwe Pietsch says, "When you give back, you help others learn those skills, then they in turn can give back..."Giving back...by planting one seed at a time...David Wilson...one of Lisa's Lights.
