China on Wednesday dismissed as”nothing short of absurdity” and breach of sovereignty the litigation filed with the US state of Missouri which stated that Beijing suppressed COVID-19 info, detained whistle-blowers and refused its infectious nature, causing the reduction of life and causing”irreparable harm” to the entire world.
It alleges that during the essential months of the first outbreak, the Chinese government tricked the people, suppressed crucial info, detained whistle-blowers, refused human-to-human transmission at the face of mounting evidence, ruined crucial medical research, allowed countless individuals to be subjected to the virus, as well as hoarded Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), resulting in a worldwide pandemic which was preventable and unnecessary.
The litigation seeks relief on a single count of public annoyance, 1 count of dangerous activities, and 2 counts of violation of obligation.
Reacting to the suit, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang stated: “this so-called accusation does not have any legal and factual foundation.
He hypothesized because of the epidemic, the Chinese government was behaving in an open, transparent, and accountable way to report the data about the US and other nations and the World Health Organization (WHO) besides devoting the general sequence of this virus.
Geng said China is currently in communicating with the US on this issue as of January 3, ensuring upgrades.
“This is part of China’s significant contribution and recognized by the global community. This so-called lawsuit is a malicious misuse of lawsuit. It violates the fundamental principle and law of equal sovereignty in international law.
“The government’s answer in the pandemic isn’t under the authority of US courts,” he explained.
Geng reported that such abuse of ligation isn’t conducive to outbreak response at home in the united states and runs counter to global collaboration.
“What the US must do would be to refute and deny this abuse of lawsuit,” he explained.
Aside from the suit, China faced strict criticism against US President Donald Trump and its leading officials and politicians such as allegations of a cover-up and underreporting of coronavirus casualties.
Even though China has reported 82,788 book coronavirus instances, including 4,632 deaths, the US enrolled over 824,600 instances and over 45,290 deaths — the greatest on earth.
