Portugal Called Europe’s Top Destination at World Travel Awards

The nation won over 20 individual awards – including Porto being named’Europe’s Leading City Break Destination’ and Lisbon bagging’Europe’s Leading Cruise Destination’.

The southern European country sees around 12 million global visitors each year. It is home to beautiful Atlantic islands such as Madeira (which also won Europe’s Leading Island Destination’) and Porto Santo, stunning beaches, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and much-loved local cuisine. Portugal achieved a total of 23 awards throughout the tourism and travel spectrum.

Currently, Portugal is exercising travel limitations in-line with COVID-19 demands. These include social distancing, wearing masks, hand sanitization, and wellness screening upon arrival into the nation.

Fortunately, the Pastel de Nata generation continues despite the hardship – a federal delicacy that honestly deserves an award ahead.
