“He’s been appointed just for South Africa A series,” a BCCI official said on Tuesday.
Powar, who played two Tests and 31 ODIs for India, was embroiled in a controversy last year after he dropped out with older women’s team participant Mithali Raj if he had been the head trainer.
Powar had reapplied for the same place, but the Cricket Advisory Committee led by 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev picked W V Raman because of his successor.
India A will probably be enjoying with two four day matches and a five-game epic’ODI’ series against South Africa A.
The one-day series will be performed in Thiruvananthapuram starting from Thursday.
