Authorities are awaiting a toxicology report to see how much alcohol played a role in the drowning of 21-year-old Jenny Mae Kraling.
Mitch Keegan rejoined the Skywatch 12 Weather Team in October 2007 as the morning and midday meteorologist. Mitch previously worked at KEYC from August 2005 to November 2006.
Before returning to KEYC, Mitch worked at KAAL-TV in Austin/Rochester, MN as the morning and weekend meteorologist. Mitch has also worked at KGAN-TV in Cedar Rapids, IA and at KCCI-TV in Des Moines, IA.
Mitch is a member of the National Weather Association. He is also a certified storm chaser. Mitch helped KEYC cover the August 24, 2006 tornado as it moved across Nicollet and Le Sueur counties.
Mitch grew up in eastern Iowa and has been interested in weather since he was a child. It's that love of weather gave him the drive to pursue a career in broadcast meteorology. Mitch studied weather and the environment at Iowa State University, and graduated in May 2004.
Mitch enjoys spending time with his wife Kya and their daughters Brynnley and Brielle, along with his other family and friends across Iowa and Minnesota.
