Legislators Talk Cuts with Locals in St. Peter

Posted: Updated:

Senator Kathy Sheran and State Representative Terry Morrow stopped in St. Peter for a mid–session update for the 2011 legislative session.

The discussion was lead by topics people brought forward. One by one they touched on each topic which ranged from how the state accept federal funding to building a Viking stadium.

The message from both representatives was there must be cuts, which they have already shown support of by voting in favor of the k–12 education cutting bill.

Senator Kathy Sheran says, "There are very very deep cuts in this budget but the important thing is it's not the first time. We've been doing it for several several years."

The 2011 legislative session deadline is May 23. They hope to resolve some of the 5 billion dollar shortfall in the budget.
