Polka Music Comes To North Mankato

Posted: Updated:

Today kids learned that polka music can be more than just fun, it can also be educational.

Uncle Mike from Wisconsin is putting on a traveling Pint Sized Polka Tour.

This week he's visiting 19 libraries in Minnesota, today stopping here at the Taylor Library in North Mankato.

He sings songs that teach kids about occupations, the alphabet, counting and more.

Polka Music Player Mike Schnider says, "Just giving kids exposure to polka which in a lot of parts of the country that I've played... here they have more exposure but even here they don't have tons of exposure to anymore and so it's great to give them that foundation in polka music."

This year's theme is One World Many Stories, so he included songs about different languages and cultures.

All of the Pint Sized Polka concerts are free.
