Local WWII vets are flying to Washington D.C. to be honored for their service and to see the memorial dedicated to them and their fellow servicemen.
But together they all have one thing in common. They are all looking forward to a day trip in D.C. to see the WWII memorial.
Arnie Wines says, "I'm surprised and very flattered that we will be honored."
Lois Reed, "It's unbelievable, it's a wonderful opportunity to go and to be treated that way."
Frost, who's grateful for her experience in the service and later met her husband there, says she is thrilled to be taking part.
Ethel Frost says, "To see all those memorials, especially the WWII one."
Lee Asche says, "To look at something that commemorates the WWII and the men and women that served."
A trip that undoubtedly brings up many memories from the time they served...
Arnie Wines says, "I'll never forget us over there in England getting ready to invade, we had to be secluded, and we couldn't talk or go outside, everything was a secret."
Lois Reed says, "It rained everyday and I remember standing outside for "colors" in our rain gear every morning..."
The honor flight, which is a one–day trip, is funded by donations to thank the veterans for their service.
And the Staff at the Old Main Village is delighted that their residents were given this opportunity.
Jackie Lupkus says, "There's lots of little surprises and it's just a great opportunity and we will all be anxious to see their pictures and hear their stories."
A day that will impact their lives and create memories they'll never forget...
