With snow emergencies inevitably taking place sooner than many probably would want... the city of North Mankato got a jump start by restricting parking on Pleasant View Drive for safety concerns and to make it more accessible for the street to be plowed... but that means a lot less parking for these residents.
Loyd Management Property Manager Sarah Collins says, "There are no additional parking spots. The only additional parking for guests or additional cars is the street."
It used to be that residents could park along the street unless there was a snow emergency and the street needed to be plowed. Now because of seasonal parking there is no parking at any time that started in the beginning of November to April 1st.
Which is causing many inconveniences for residents that are already dealing with limiting parking as it is."
North Mankato Resident Kevin Mock says, "The current situation is unacceptable. We have to come with a better plan, alternative. I understand about the snow removal but something like no parking Monday– Friday should solve the problem."
After listening to their concerns the city council members decided to refer the issue back to the traffic and safety department.
In the meantime the "No Parking" signs lining Pleasant View will be taken down.
Collins says, "I'm very happy that they agreed to cover the signs for now until they come up with something else but I'm really hopeful that what they come up with will be a positive resolution for all of us residents and management.
Although it's temporary, residents call it a move in the right direction before the snow flies especially for those who need more than one parking space on Pleasant View.
