This time last year we had 11 inches of snowfall but even without flakes falling from the sky Mount Kato is open and busy.

Over 250 skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes Friday. Four runs are open and three chair lifts in operation thanks to a good amount of man made snow. The weather may not be good for keeping snow around but people on the hill were able to enjoy temperatures in the 50's.

Mount Kato General Manager Jeff Putrah says, "It was a little more of fight to get open this year last year we had a lot more snow and a lot colder weather and so far so good."

They won't be making snow tonight but will remain open through the weekend. Mount Kato will reopen next Friday and hopes to hold regular hours after that.
