It's just been a few days since the last U.S. combat troops left Iraq. Now that country is seeing deadly violence. More than a dozen bombs went off this morning, killing at least 57 people.
Iraqi officials counted at least 14 blasts across Baghdad throughout the morning rush hour. The targets were indiscriminate . Roadside bombs and car bombs struck everything from neighborhood markets to police stations. A suicide bomber in an ambulance killed 18 people in one attack alone. Militants unleashed the coordinated string of bombings just days after the last of the US troops pulled out. They also come at a time of bitter political fighting between the Iraq's Sunni and Shiite factions. Shiite Prime Minister Nuri al Maliki ordered the arrest the of the highest ranking Sunni, Vice President Tariq al–Hashemi, for running death squads. (
