Applications are being accepted in Mankato, St. Peter, Le Sueur, St. James and New Prague. Habitat officials say a low number of applicants doesn't mean that the need is low. Families are encouraged to apply now. Executive Director, Julie Schmillen said, "Please submit your application as soon as possible. We're looking to pick our families, get house plans designed, and start spring construction weather providing."
Families who may qualify are low to moderate income, currently live in substandard housing, are unable to get a conventional home loan or are paying more than 30 percent of their monthly income on housing.
