St. Peter Pavilion Renovation In The Works

ST. PETER, MINN. -

The City of St. Peter is looking at fixing up their pavilion in Minnesota Square Park. But they may want to expand it as well.

A Mayor's task force will be created, made up of 33 members of the community, including stakeholders such as the Chamber of Commerce and Relay for Life, which will brainstorm ideas concerning what the city will need in the future.

St. Peter City Administrator Todd Prafke says, "It's showing signs of wear. It's been through a tornado. It's been through lots of heat and thaw. And part of the goal of the mayor's task force is are we just doing that band aid or while we're spending some money, are we doing something to enhance it's usability by the community."

By the fall of 2012, the council will decide on a final design. After the city reviews financing and donations for the project, bids will be taken, with the project expected to be completed sometime in 2013.
