Beau Herrig entered his senior year needing five points to reach one thousand in his career.
He accomplished that the first game, and coming into tonight he was just nine rebounds away from the millennium mark as well.
In Herrig's mind, there is no question which milestone means more.
He says it is the rebounds because there aren't many in the area that have accomplished it, and it takes that extra effort to grab the boards.
Herrig has been working on those numbers for four seasons.
MLBO head coach Shawn Naas says they hadn't intended in using Herrig in his freshman year, but the forward was the only player on the team with any size.
Now as a senior Herrig is averaging 18 points and 14 rebounds, so Naas can be confident he made the right move.
As Herrig has grown stronger, so have the Wolverines.
The team won only five games his freshman year, and MLBO is already up to 12 victories this season.
Herrig will make sure that opponents will know the Wolverines are good the rest of this year.
That's why he's our KEYC Scheels All-Sports Boys Prep Athlete of the Week.
