A lively debate in Jacksonville last night as the Republicans running for the White House focused on immigration ahead of Tuesday's Florida primary. President Obama is wrapping up a three–day campaign–style swing promoting his new economic plans.

Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich are back on the campaign trail shaking hands, and trying to win the backing of Florida's one and a half million Hispanic GOP voters. Both candidates are speaking at a Hispanic conference. And bracing for questions about their fiery exchanges over immigration during Thursday night's debate. Gingrich took a shot at Romney's record.

New poll numbers released Friday morning show Gingrich's surge in Florida  is over. He's slipped to 9–points behind Romney  just a few days before the primary. President Obama is keeping his focus on the economy. He's on the final leg of a 3–day, 5–state swing  visiting the University of Michigan. He's pushing a new plan to make college more affordable.

His campaign appears ready to challenge the GOP presidential hopefuls on their economic proposals — trying to convince voters they're promoting old ideas that failed in the past. After a few campaign stops today, Rick Santorum will put his Florida campaign on hold  heading home to Pennsylvania to file his taxes. His campaign is strapped for cash and he admits  the fight to win Florida has become a two–man race between Gingrich and Romney. Ron Paul has written off Florida as well and not campaigned in that state.
