The race for the Republican Presidential nomination makes its first stop in Minnesota.

Bypassing the Sunshine State, Rick Santorum returned to friendly territory in the Midwest.

Monday night's event, which was initially planned to be at the Pizza Ranch in Luverne, was moved to the nearby Palace Theatre because of heavy turnout.

The Former Senator from Pennsylvania wearing his trademark sweater vest, was greeted with a standing ovation.

As in many of his stump speeches, the Republican presidential hopeful focused mainly on his faith and how he thinks it applies to the country's founding and to the Presidency.

Santorum says, "We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights. If you want to know the religion of America in a sense that's the religion of America. "

Santorum's message seemed to resonate with supporters who have lost faith with the current front–runners.

Santorum supporter Ronald Strike says, "Even though he seems short on money, he's doing a pretty good job, and I hope he stays with the issues, rather than getting in the fray with the rest of these guys that are scrapping and fighting with each other too much."

After the primary vote in Florida on Tuesday, the GOP race enters a new stage in the game focusing on five states which will vote in the next week.

That includes Minnesota where caucus goers head to the polls February 7.
