Yet another outdoor event is canceled. It's an annual tradition in southern Minnesota the Anthony Ford Pond Hockey Tournament.
This adds to several other cancellations that were scheduled on Lake Washington, such as the Hummingbird Big Bobber and the Radar Run.
The Anthony Ford Pond Hockey Tournament was originally set for January 28th but rescheduled for February 11th now it's canceled all together.
Anthony Pond Hockey Tournament Board Member, Mike Oliver says, "It's unfortunate we can't control the weather and with the ice being unsafe the final decision was made right after Le Sueur County determined that the lakes were unsafe."
Last year over thirty-nine teams signed up to and they raised over $15,000 this year they were hoping to raise $20,000.
The money that's raised helps support childhood cancer treatment and research, also youth hockey scholarships in Mankato. Despite the setback they're still trying to stay positive.
Mile Oliver says, "The good thing is that it gives us another year to determine what to do for next year it's bad for this year, obviously but next year bigger stronger better."
However, not all out outdoor events are going to be canceled, including the Polar Plunge.
Event organizers won't decide until the day of whether or not people will either jump off the ledge of ice or run in from the side but either way it's a green light. Last year they raised over $74,000 and hope to top that next weekend.
The Anthony Ford Pond Hockey Tournament board members are meeting on Monday to determine a make-up fundraiser event that could place this summer.
