The Mankato West girls basketball team has taken a few lumps this season. Despite being 5–13 Cara Christiansen is doing her part to try and help the Scarlets improve on that record.
The Mankato West Junior is our KEYC Scheels All–Sports Girls Prep Athlete of the Week.
When Mankato West junior Cara Christiansen is on the basketball court, she is sure to have a smile on her face. While she wears the big grin, don't let it fool you, she is a lot tougher on floor.
Christiansen is averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds this season, looking to keep the Scarlets improving in a year that has seen just five wins coming into this week. She scored 25 points and grabbed 11 boards last Friday in a win over Faribault. The performance shows she isn't giving up on the team, and she is hoping it sends the right message to the younger players.
With eight games left on the schedule in the regular season, Christiansen will try and lead the Scarlets to a strong finish.
