Deputy Responding to Crash Ends Up in a Crash Himself

BLUE EARTH CO., Minn -

A Blue Earth County Deputy sustains minor injuries after he crashed his squad car.

Authorities were responding to a motor-vehicle collision with injuries on Wednesday when the crash occurred.

Officials say while heading to the scene, Deputy Carl Mulder lost control of his Crown Victoria on the Stadium Drive hill, skidded sideways and hit a tree.

"Although Deputy Mulder ended up with some injuries, they were somewhat minor compared to what they could have been; Deputy Mulder was seatbelted in his squad car," said Capt. Rich Murry of the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department.

Deputy Mulder was treated and released from an area hospital. Authorities say the squad will likely be totaled.
