Another are school district plans to shake up its calendar to save money.
 
New Ulm Public Schools have voted to join the growing number of districts opting for shorter school weeks.
 
Thursday night the school board voted five to two to approve what they call a flexible calendar.

If approved by the state, the plan would add a half-hour to each school day, and create several four-day school weeks spread throughout the school year, with most during the winter months.
