Hundreds of children filled the Missouri Capitol rotunda to learn in a friendly competition of robotics.

They pitted their programming skills against one another in tabletop competitions, where their robots raced to finish a series of tasks and obstacles.

Event organizers say that they designed the event so the kids can get ideas for later in life.

The Lego robotics world championships are at the end of April in St. Louis.
