MANKATO, Minn. -

The Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota has expanded its hours and play space.

The basement of the museum is now open and home to a brand new exhibit.

So far the museum has sold over 100 family memberships and plans to continue adding new exhibits.

Museum developer Karen Wahlstrom says, "The next phase of our museum is to prototype some exhibits that we will use hopefully in our permanent site, and the first one, a priority that we chose is part of our sand stone and quarry zone exhibit."

Developers will watch how kids interact with the new exhibits and make changes to enhance the learning experience.

If you are interested, the museum is looking for more volunteers to play with children and help with museum planning.
