The last time this building was occupied full-time by grades 4th-6th was the 2009 and 2010 school year. Since closing its doors, the school district saved $190,000. Superintendent, Dick Orcutt says,
The JWP school board voted 4 to 2 Monday to sell the building for $1 to the Southern Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.

North Mankato -
Fire crews were called back to the scene Monday morning after a flare up at a home that caught fire overnight.
Officials responded to 419 Webster Avenue in North Mankato Sunday night around 11:30. Fire crews were on scene until about 4:00am battling the blaze.
After they left, authorities say the fire rekindled and moved into a crawl space. That caused even more damage.
Right now several people are left without a home. Charlie Roen lived at the home. He said, "I gotta find a new place to live and I got a lot of stuff here so it's going to be kinda hard."
