TEHRAN, IRAN -
Nuclear inspectors from the United Nations are visiting Iran's capital for the second time in a month to discuss the country's nuclear program. Their visit comes a day after Iran blocked oil exports to France and Britain. Senior UN inspectors say they hope THIS trip to Tehran will bring some answers. Their visit last month did little to calm world tensions over Iran's nuclear program. This time monitors are pressing Iranian officials to give them more access. They want to speak to Iranian nuclear scientists and visit a key military facility to find out whether Iran is trying to build an atomic bomb.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards started war games in the desert over the weekend to show the world Iran is prepared to defend itself if needed. Tensions are high with Israel officials threatening a possible military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. Both the U.S. and Britain are urging Israel not to launch an attack saying there is no proof Iran is developing a nuclear weapon.
Experts warn a conflict could push already spiking oil prices through the roof and speed up Iran's nuclear ambitions instead of stopping them. On Sunday, Iran stopped selling oil to British and French companies – ahead of European Union sanctions set for July. Iran's President still insists his country's nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. But U–N inspectors say they want to see proof for themselves.
