The last time this building was occupied full-time by grades 4th-6th was the 2009 and 2010 school year. Since closing its doors, the school district saved $190,000. Superintendent, Dick Orcutt says,
The JWP school board voted 4 to 2 Monday to sell the building for $1 to the Southern Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.

The Kiwanis club of Rock Island, Illinois held their third annual "Use It or Luge It" contest Monday.
The competitors could only use cardboard, duct tape and paint to create their sleds.
They then raced their homemade contraptions down the tubing hill.
Wipeouts and all, folks dashed down the hill as quick as could be.
The fastest sled wins the coveted golden snow shovel.
