The last time this building was occupied full-time by grades 4th-6th was the 2009 and 2010 school year. Since closing its doors, the school district saved $190,000. Superintendent, Dick Orcutt says,
The JWP school board voted 4 to 2 Monday to sell the building for $1 to the Southern Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.

Days of Mardi Gras parades and celebration culminate today with Fat Tuesday. Hundreds of thousands of people are crowding the city for the festivities. But it all ends on Wednesday when lent begins.
