The last time this building was occupied full-time by grades 4th-6th was the 2009 and 2010 school year. Since closing its doors, the school district saved $190,000. Superintendent, Dick Orcutt says,
The JWP school board voted 4 to 2 Monday to sell the building for $1 to the Southern Minnesota Chamber of Commerce.

Minnesota State Patrol urging drivers to slow down when road conditions are not ideal. State wide, Patrol responded to 191 crashes on Monday. In the Mankato district they responded to 10 property damage crashes, 2 injury crashes and 9 vehicles were reported off the roadway.
