St Paul Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening MSU Student

A suspect in the alleged assault at MSU's Gage Towers Monday is in jail today. Mankato Department Of Public Safety investigators used information from MSU Campus Security to identify several suspicious vehicles. One plate led authorities to St. Paul.

Mankato Department Of Public Safety Detective Commander, Matt DuRose said, "Through the course of the investigation and developing some early leads, we were able to follow–up on those leads and identify a suspect. We worked with St. Paul Police at identifying that suspect further and maybe some places where they would be. St. Paul PD was able to take that person into custody yesterday afternoon for us and he is currently in the Blue Earth County Jail awaiting charges."

It is not yet known why 19–year–old David McClain, of St. Paul was in Mankato. Authorities believe he is the one that entered Gage B Tower around 11:30 Monday night and threatened residents with a weapon. Investigators tell News 12 that there is a lot to be sorted out in the case. Authorities are also interviewing a male victim to determine if there are any others involved in the incident.
